BioChip Tissue Micro Array

A special service of Indivumed is providing the highest quality Cryo-TMA (tissue-micro-array) BioChip currently available.  Cryo-TMA are specifically designed according to the specific needs of Indivumed’s customers. TMA-slides are prepared for customers on request and are ready for delivery usually within 2-4 weeks.

Using a special robot-chip technology Indivumed provides TMA of frozen tissue from all biospecimen available at Indivumed’s biobank. Microscopic slides are spotted with pre-defined tumor areas assuring that all tissue spots have an identical quality. For each tissue spot complete clinical data of > 300 patient data points are available for comprehensive studies. Each tissue has been collected according to the Indivumed standard with extremely short ischemia times.

An additional feature of the technology is the possibility to spot on the same TMA-slide reference cell lines, e.g. for positive or negative controls.

This product is ideal for target screening or validation studies as well as antibody evaluation studies which need well characterized tissue of high quality.

The TMA is individually designed for each customer. In principle three different arrays are available:

  • Cancer tissue TMA
  • Cancer + matched normal tissue
  • Normal tissue TMA

Customer can design their array according to clinical data of interest. Commonly used selection criteria for TMA design include,

  • Different tumor entities
  • Histopathology
  • Gender/Age
  • Tumor stage
  • Specific expression pattern (e.g. HER-2)
  • Outcome

In addition, Indivumed provides a unique selection of data and biospecimen which allow essentially all kind of tissue composition. Overall, > 300 different clinical data are available for patient selection, including,

  • Tissue ischemia time (intra- and post surgery)
  • Drug treatment
  • Tissue location (periphery/center of tumor)
  • Life Style criteria (smoking, vegetarian etc.)
  • > 50 data from blood testing (clinical chemistry, hematology, serology)
  • Tumor marker
